Weekly Letter Week 11
Autumn Term 2018
We have started learning our songs and rhymes for our Christmas concert which will be on Friday 21st December at the Hinckley Baptist Church Stockwell Head (next to Concordia Theatre). The website for the Church is www.hinckleybaptist.com . It will start at 10am so please bring your child straight to the Church and it will last about an hour. Afterwards every Pre-school child will see Santa and then they will go home with you to start their Christmas celebrations. Pre-school will be closed to the children on this day.
We would like all of the children to have a starring role and create a spectacular tableau on stage with an array of Christmas costumes to bring colour and sparkle to our performance.
To do this, please will you talk to your child about what they would like to dress up as for our concert. Some ideas are … Santa, Snowman, Star, Mary, Joseph, Angel, Donkey, King, Shepherd or Reindeer.
When they have decided what they would like to be, could you please get the costume together, it can be home made or as we know that Christmas is a busy time of year, some supermarket chains offer good alternatives.
Once the costume is ready, send it into Pre-school in a named bag before Thursday 6th December (Pre-school trip on the Friday) so we can get ready for our dress rehearsals the following week. Once rehearsals are done, the costumes will be sent home ready for your child to put on before they go to the Church on the 21st December.
If anyone has any worries or queries regarding this matter please see your child’s key person.
You will receive a letter about this soon.
This year, because our concert is at the Church, you will not need a ticket and you can bring your family to watch and you will be able to video and take photos but they must not be put on the Internet.
At the concert, the children will sing and do lots of signing actions to the songs and there will also be a lovely short story of the Nativity.
After the concert, the children will visit Santa in their key person groups. Once you have visited Santa, you can take your child home and start your Christmas celebrations! Pre-school children who do not normally attend on a Wednesday are very welcome to join us at the Church; we would love all of our children to take part.
The main school Christmas Fayre is on Friday 30th November from 6pm until 8pm. Pre-school will have a non- uniform week (week beginning Monday 26th November) leading up to this, Little Battlers are asked to send in mince pies, cakes and chocolate rolls for the Fayre. Thank you
Christmas Trips December 7th & 17th
Last week the children were talking about Bonfire night and all of the sounds and shapes that they saw. We also talked about the Hindu festival of “Diwali” as this is also celebrated with fireworks. The children made a poppy biscuit on Friday and we had a minute silence to remember all of the people who have kept, and keep us safe in our country and around the world.
The Professional photographer came on Wednesday 31st October, proofs should be here this week if they have not already arrived. Plenty of time to order for Christmas.
This week the children will be looking at technology, they will be experimenting with a range of technological toys.
On Tuesday 13th November we are taking the children over to the main school during the morning session to watch “Pinocchio” Really looking forward to this!
On Friday 16th November it is CHILDREN IN NEED.
The children are invited to come to Pre-school dressed in spots as the theme is “Spotacular”. If the children prefer they can come to Pre-school wearing Pudsey accessories. Please be generous! This is a very good cause. Thank you.
Music and movement is on Friday, please remember to send your child with their trainers or pumps and could you help them put them on when you bring them in. Thank you.
Library is on Monday during session times; please remember to send back their previous book.
Any queries or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask.
Thank you for your continued support!
