Week Commencing 24th April 2018

April 24, 2018

Summer Term 2018.

Week 3.

There are 5 weeks left until half term. We break up on Friday 25th May for one week and return on Monday 4th June.

For the last 2 weeks the children who are leaving us to go to big school in September have learnt a letter sound each day So far they have been introduced to m, a, s, d, t, i, n, p ,g & o. They are picking the sounds up well and are beginning to blend some of them together. It’s all done in a fun way and only lasts 10 minutes. We will continue with this throughout the term.

The children have started to practice the races for our sport’s day on Wednesday 23rd May 11-12am. We will now start to practice twice a week so please ensure that your child has their trainers/pumps with them on a Wednesday and a Friday. Thank you.

If you have not received a letter about this please let us know. If the weather on Sport’s day is horrendous we will do it in one of the modules.

Library is on Monday.

Phonics this week will be – c, k, u, b, (4 sounds).

Tuesday – we take groups of children over to the big school reception classes to play.

Wednesday & Friday – Sport’s day practices.

The weather is very changeable at the moment so please send your child with a coat if it’s a cold day or apply sun cream before they come to Pre-school on warmer days and they will need a named sun hat, as they do play outside during the sessions. Thank you.

Last week the children talked about germs and how to prevent them by washing our hands.

This week it is St George’s day on Monday. The children will be listening to traditional stories and making their own up using puppets and small world toys. We will be making hats, flags and crowns. Red and white are important colours for us this week.

Thank you all for your continued support. Remember we are always here to help. Please talk to us if you have any concerns or questions.

Mrs. Williscroft – Pre-school Manager
